Are you gearing up for the Barossa Valley Gourmet Weekend? For the first time, the event is being held in the first weekend of September and is set to be an extravaganza for all the senses. It’s when the Barossa rolls out the welcome mat and the eyes of the world are upon us. It’s our chance to prove South Australia’s Barossa Valley’s international reputation as a wine and food destination – something not to be sniffed at (unless you’re sniffing its wine, but that’s another story).

Here at Barossa Distilling, we like to do things a little differently. Slightly left field. Outside the box. Whatever other stunningly overused cliché springs to mind. To this end, we are doing a pop up of dangerous proportions. A gin den of iniquity (somewhat). A steampunk fantasy clothed in the historic remains of a past era.

A skinful of gin, you say? What could possibly be wrong with that? Join us this Barossa Valley Gourmet Weekend at Barossa’s first pop-up gin bar, The Stillery by Barossa Distilling.

In the old Penfolds distillery, we will be opening a world of dusty stills, industrial geegaws and historical curios. Come and experience a night like no other, with the finest (and possibly only) cocktail bar in town. We will be breathing new life into a historical Barossa institution, for three days and nights only. Think steampunk-infused with the Wonka Mobile crossed with an abandoned prohibition-era distillery. A rustic gin fancier’s paradise – with wine and cocktails.

This is your one chance to experience the history of our vibrant little region in a way that few else have had the chance to. Stop by for a night flavoured by all things gin. Barossa Generations Gin, naturally. With cocktails on offer including the wicked Red Devil (the juniper-based cousin of Bloody Mary), a special little gin and port number called The Princeton and of course, the classic Gin Martini.
